Scenic Winery Tour of the Sonoma Valley

Please join the Bay Area Chapter of the UCSD Alumni Association for a Scenic
Winery Tour of the Sonoma Valley on Saturday, November 1st. We will visit four
wineries including Gundlach Bundschu and Domaine Carneros. We'll have a picnic
lunch at one of the wineries where you can take in the picturesque views. Don't
miss this fun day of wine, food, and friends.

UC Night at the SF Symphony
Friday, June 20 at 8:00pm.
Join UC Alumni from all over the system for this UCSD
Alumni hosted event.
We will listen to the SF Symphony and then join together for a reception
with some of the performers at 10:00pm - 11:00pm in the Wattis Room
w/desserts, wine, coffee, tea. There will also be a
lecture about the performance at 7 PM.
Weill's Seven Deadly Sins
Weill was
master of his own musical fusion -jazz, classical and musical theater- a
style that came to epitomize Germany's turbulent and hedonistic pre-war
years. The Seven Deadly Sins, Weill's scathing commentary on
decadence, was commisioned by famous Viennese dancer Tilly Losch.
UCSD Faculty Lecture
Dr. Margaret J. Schoeninger,
Professor of Anthropology at UCSD. Dr. Schoeninger will speak in the Bay Area on Thursday, April 3, 2003. Her lecture, titled
Living off the Land: Early Hominid Diets, will explore the evolution of the human diet and its implications on the evolution of the human lineage.

- Monterey Bay Aquarium Saturday
April 13th. The UCSD Alumni Association's Bay Area Chapter invites you to join fellow
alumni for a day at the Monterey Bay Aquarium on Saturday April 13th. Alumni may arrive at
the aquarium, which is open from 10:00 a.m. through 6:00 p.m., and enter through their
special group entrance. Specially priced group tickets are available for $15 per person.
Enjoy lunch with fellow UCSD alumni for an additional $10. Lunch includes choice of
Turkey/Swiss, Ham/Cheddar or Vegetarian on squaw bread, fresh fruit, chips, cookie, and
soda. Children choose between cheese or pepperoni pizza, with fruit, cookie and soda.

The UCSD Alumni Association is in need of alumni volunteers for the
annual Bay Area Freshmen Send-Off/Alumni Picnic on Sunday, September 9th at Twin Pines
Park in Belmont from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. You can help ease the tensions for members
of the newest freshmen class at this summer potluck. Meet fellow alumni and pass on your
words of wisdom to
UCSD's newest! Please volunteer to help grill food, lead games, and get the site ready.
All alumni should come prepared to talk to the incoming students and their parents about
their UCSD experience.
- Wine Country Tour Saturday, October 13
The UCSD Alumni Association's
Bay Area Chapter hosted its annual wine country tour on Saturday, October 13. The
event included wine tasting at three wineries, transportation in a
motor coach, and a wine country lunch complete with salad, dessert, and wine. Our first winery will be Buena Vista
Winery where alumni will enjoy an historical tour of the grounds followed by a tasting. We
will then move on to a delicious lunch served al fresco at Viansa Winery where alumni will
also enjoy a guided tour and tasting. And to top it all off, the last stop will be at
Gloria Ferrer, where alumni will enjoy a Private "Champagne Caves" tour and
sparkling wine tasting.

- The Tech Museum
- Saturday, March 25 Please join fellow UCSD alumni and their families for
a day at The Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose on Saturday, March 25. Tickets for the
event will include admission to the museum, lunch and a special presentation about the
museum in the Robert Noyce Center for Learning at 11 am. We have also reserved a limited
number of seats for the 3 p.m. showing of the movie Fantasia/2000 in the IMAX dome
theatre.
- UC Day in Sacramento is the one time of the year when all nine
UC alumni associations collectively come together with their alumni, donors and friends to
carry our voice to Sacramento and discuss with their elected representatives issues of
concern to the University. March 13 and 14, 2000.
